The tiny island is the smallest of the group yet one of the most striking of the Canary Islands. This is truly a palce for that relaxing and rejuvenating holiday. The landscape is varied like the other islands, and you are surrounded by abundant natural beauty.
The capital of El Hierro is Valverde- a chocolate box town with narrow lanes, a nice church and a picturesque square. You can enjoy excellent views of the ocean from here and relax in the quiet atmosphere.
Other places to visit are- Tinor, where you will see pyramids of volcanic ashes on green meadows. In Tamaduste there is a great lake of crystal water. Restinga is a favourite place of sports divers and fishermen, and Frontera, has large and picturesque vineyards.
Apart from the picture perfect beaches and coastline, there are forests of ancient junipers, the Orchilla lighthouse or the Cave of Don Justo, at La Restinga, and breathtaking views all around. A trip here is nothing less than magical. |
