The magnificent & beautiful Palma Cathedral is the most important historical landmark of Mallorca. The gothic cathedral is in the old quarter of the city. The construction of the Cathedral began in 1230, and was completed by 1601.
The huge entrance to the cathedral- the Mirador or “Puerta del Mar”, is its chief attraction. Artistic creations by celebrated artists such as Pedro de Moret and Juan de decorate the Mirador.
The cathedral’s bell tower stands 52 meter high with three ogive-arched stories. The most famous among its nine bells is the “N’Eloi”. It is 2 meter in diameter; it weighs more than 4,517 kilos.
