Almeria

almeria private villa spain

Situated on the Mediterranean Ocean in southeastern Spain, Almeria welcomes visitors to its picturesque and beautiful world. One of the most important and largest cities of Andalucia, Almeria has today become a major tourist attraction in league with Malaga and Seville. Almeria is a modern city steeped in history. It was founded by the Phoenicians and its name comes from the Arabs. The translation of its name from Arabic means “Mirror of the Sea”. Almeria is the capital city of the province, which includes the Costa Almeria and some very charming towns and villages.

Almeria has some of the best climate in Spain and is one of the warmest cities in Europe. The province of Almeria and the city are a great holiday destination if you are looking for a quiet time in an authentic Spanish destination. The region is relatively untouched by the onslaught of modern tourism. You will enjoy the views of its white villages, the diverse landscape, and the historical landmarks of its past rulers.

The province of Almeria is famous for its oranges and quality grapes, which are the staple export from its port. The historical legacy of Almeria includes the imposing fortress Alcazaba, which looms large over the cityscape; and the Cathedral of Almeria located in the historical center of the city. It dates back to the 15th C and has some incredibly beautiful Gothic architecture. True to its past, Almeria is home to several museums which are an important stopover for anyone who wants to get a closer look at the city, its history and cultural influences.

The seafront Nicolas Salmeron Park is great for a quiet stroll; especially as you get to see the picturesque Port of Marina. Other places of interest in the city are the La Rambala, Puerta de Purchena at the end of Paseo de Almeria. These streets feature restaurants, cafes, parks and shopping facilities for the tourist.

The Costa Almeria is 200 km of rugged, beautiful coastline. The beaches of Almeria are not entertainment centres and the towns retain their original character. This coast has beautiful, golden beaches but isn’t as famous as its counterparts like the Costa Del Sol.

It is an ideal destination for a relaxing, calm sun and sand experience sans the crowds and clutter. Come here for a great time with the family and kids…you will be able to spend some quality time with the kids.
